PRESENTATION | The Multinational Nacala Road Corridor Development Project Phase V is part of the overall Multinational Nacala Road Corridor Development Project, a 1 335 km road corridor stretching from Lusaka, Zambia to the Port of Nacala in Mozambique, through Malawi. The project is currently being implemented in phases in Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia and aims to contribute to improving transportation and trade facilitation along the Nacala Road Corridor with the reduction of transport costs and distances, but also for the diversification of possibilities to access to the coast (Beira, Nacala, Durban, and Dar-es-Salaam). A total of 89 km of road section is being rehabilitated in Malawi. The construction of the Nsipe-Liwonge Road is a 76 km-section connecting the central and southern regions of Malawi. The Chiponde/Mandimba Border Post is located up north. A Feasibility study for the construction the OSBP was launched by the Malawi Authorities in 2021. |
